Role Model For Time

Shawn Johnson is an American gymnast. She is the 2007 World All-Around Champion , as well as the 2007 U.S. National All-Around Champion. The remarkable attribute of Shawn Johnson is that she has disciplined herself to practice only four hours a day, while other gymnasts practice a minimum of six hours a day. She decided that gymnastics is important but does not comprise her entire life. She has planned her time for family, friends and extra curricula activities. Thus, Shawn Johnson is a role model for how we spend our time yet still have time for family, friends and other activities. The concept applies to any work activity. How often do we find corporate executives working so intensely that they have no time for family or friends. People need to be careful not to sell their soul for what they do.

The principle of Shawn Nelson's practice of practicing only four hours a day sets an example for us to use our time wisely. It's an example of what does not seem possible. It reminds me of Rodger Bannister who ran the four minute mile. Prior to that time people thought it was impossible to run it in four minutes. Soon afterwards several people ran the four minute mile. Pioneers like Shawn Nelson and Rodger. Bannister give people inspiration for what they can do.
