Of course we all know the saying, "It is not what you know but who you know." Well, today I'm very excited to know THE Networking Rock Star! Meet Mr. Brett Pojunis presently of Las Vegas, Nevada where he shakes up more excitement than all the show girls combined! It took only a very short interview to realize that Brett carries the attributes of some big time stars. His unlimited ability to broker human capital is reminiscent of Donald Trump. He brought to mind Thomas Edison as I experienced his electric personality with which I am sure he could, single handedly, power the entire Vegas strip's lighting needs. He has been cooking up deals all of his life, giving Martha Stewart a role model to emulate, and I felt certain that he has the compassion and heart of Mother Theresa. Brett is one of those people of whom you are sure that in the first few hours after his birth came to know the entire hospital staff, had grasped their needs, figured out who could help whom, and facilitated all the necessary connections. And all this before he ever left the building. Shazzzzzzzzzammmmmmmmm! When he first landed in Las Vegas, the desire to get connected quickly led to his discovery that there wasn't a single website to highlight the town's club scene. So he registered the name VegasClubScene.com and this became the home of a new online social network for night life, entertainment and fashion. He threw the website's launch party on June 30, 2004 at the Ice Night Club. Being the marketing genius that he is, he and his partners have locked in every major market and plan to take this proven business model to 22 new metropolitan areas in the coming year. I'll keep you posted and we'll revisit his progress with regular updates. Over the years, as Las Vegas grew, Brett found the market for typical nightlife events becoming over saturated in this area. So he and his partners decided to diversify their networking opportunities to include the business arena. And that is how Vegas Synergy was born. His vision for the new venture is to provide a place where people can quickly connect with the movers and shakers of this booming town, enabling them to create deals and joint ventures to support and expand their businesses In A Big Way. Last week Brett launched an event under the Vegas Synergy umbrella called Re-Connect! Unlike traditional networking models, their innovative core concept is two-fold: First, as Brett explained, "most people go to business networking events and treat it like a rat race to collect as many business cards as possible" which only serves to build huge stacks of paper without much promise of ever turning them into relationships. So at Re-Connect, the idea is to bring a friend who might be a former coworker or someone you haven't seen in a while, and use this opportunity to re-connect with them, while connecting with some new folks as well. Second, if you happen to be a CEO, a Vice President, or a Business owner, and are looking to grow your business through joint ventures, this is THE place for you. Brett has the natural ability to identify potential synergies between different businesses leading to cross promotions as well as joint ventures. While this new business networking model might remind you of Let's Make a Deal, his new venture is far from a game show - it is the real Deal. Deal, of course, being the operative word here. As the brand builds Brett plans to host events that focus on various vertical markets, for example, industry specific events for gaming, car dealers, nightlife, attorneys, and others. An additional great asset for this business networking group will be a localized version of LinkedIn which will be in place by the end of June 08. Currently you can join the event at R.E. Tapas Kitchen and Lounge. So clear your calendar for Thursday evenings between 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and tell Brett I sent you. Please visit www.VegasSynergy.Com and sign up to their mailing list to be informed of upcoming events. I know he will make sure you meet just the right person who will be perfect for the major deal or joint venture you had in mind. |
